I am happy to call Marcus Glenn a personal friend and to have his artwork for sale in my gallery.
Marcus Glenn, a native Detoiter, was born on January 29, 1968.His first interaction with art was at the age of five when his teacher asked him to create a board illustration in class. This childhood experience with the arts forged a path for an exciting artistic career.
Marcus was awarded a full scholarship to the College of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended from 1987 to 1990. During this period, he received his first group show at the Gerald Marant Gallery in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At the young age of twenty, Glenn's talents were being recongnized with such established artists as Annie Lee, Carl Owens and Gilbert Young. Although his studies were interrupted, he continued his artistic pursuits, and became a graphic designer for television station WKBD Channel 50 in Detroit. While in this position, Marcus further strengthened his skills and enhanced his portfolio as a freelance artist. This endeavor, along with a growing reputation as an accomplished artist, opened the door to greater opportunities. Between 1990 and 1994, Marcus's strong background as an illustrator prompted him to create the comic strip, Double Trouble, which became a running series in local newspaper, The Detroit News.
By 1998, Marcus had been commissioned for mural projects with Daimler Chrysler's museum, and by notable business owner Patrick Coleman, for a restaurant in southfield, Michigan. In 2000, Marcus became one of the many distinguished artists to be represented by the Park West Gallery in Southfield, Michigan
.

The Charles H. Wright Museum is pleased to present Marcus Glenn's first museum exhibition. Through these works, he "attract the gaze" of the viewer and invites them to look into emotional, reflective, and rhythmic scenes. Some figures gesture with great expression within the canvas, while others remain solid and contemplative. The artist describes the unique style of incorporating sculptural form into his paintings as, "Flat Life," a technique that he has been perfecting for many years. Gleen has truly established himself as a consummate artist who infuses powerful colr, texture and vitality into his images.
