Here Are A Few  of  our Award Winning Designs!   We Look Forward to Working on Your Next Project.

Here are photos of our two latest award winning frame designs.

Well actually, I can't show you photos online until
these are sent to Nationals in California Feb. 2010.

You can, however stop in and see them on display in our gallery.

Update 3/12/2010 - We won at nationals, I'll get a picture up ASAP. In the meantime if you are in the area, stop in and see this International Award Winner.

The first place blue ribbon was for our totaly custom built cedar frame with gambel roof style to mimic a bird feeder. The compound angles were second nature to us, as we use to be professional cabinet makers. An interesting twist on this piece was the double glass which allowed for the placement of the sunflower seeds within the frame and yet isolating them from the cardinal print.

The Second place ribbon was our first entry into a PPFA competition at the State level. We custom built the small eazel to display the unfinished painting by Hazel Harbauer, along with the used artist paintbrush.

We have since went on to win many other awards. The most rewarding piece we do though, is the one that brings a smile to our customers face.

We are proud to have taken 3rd place in a framing competition sponsored by Nelson's Moulding in Traverse City Mi. 5/16/09. Framers from Wisconsin, Michigan & Ohio participated. All entrants were given a copy of the same print to frame. Then the creative fun began.

The first step after receiving the print was mounting it to a solid 8 ply backing.

We also wanted to add depth and texture to the print so we added a

Z-Gell Texture to the piece. This treatment simulates brush strokes to make the print look more like the original oil painting.

I sourced this beautiful silk fabric with a small leaf pattern to bring out the fall colors in the original artwork. This faric was wrapped over 8 ply Artique Matboard for both the top and lower matsNext, after finding just the right fabric with the fall colors and patterns to enhance the art, I created hand wrapped bevel accents also out of 8 ply mats. After the bevel accents were made they were custom cut and installed as the second mat layer. Finally two additional mat layers were added and the reverse beveled print was floated on these. With the addition of Museum Glass, this prize winner was finished.
